I have a 40 gallon gas water heater and a 80+ gallon jetted tub. Needless to say we could not fill the tub and we have no room for another standard hot water heater or a bigger one. I live in Salt Lake City, UT where I think we are classified as zone 6 for plumbing. The inlet water temperature is between 45 and 50 degrees F. Based on this, I purchased the TE18 tankless unit. I have a 200 amp service. I installed 2, 50amp double pole breakers. I used #6 from the breakers to a junction box located by the TE18. From the junction box, through 1" PVC, I used #8 because I could not get #6 into the TE18. I used a ferrule crimper end on the #8 for a good connection and fit those crimped ends into the connector sleeve within the TE18. I tapped into an 1/2" existing water line, that's all I could get at. Our pressure is about 55 psi. I used a 1/2 to 3/4 expander from this existing line. I used 3/4" copper into and out off the TE18, about 12" of copper on both sides. The inlet and outlet copper lines have unions so I can flush the TE18 in the future( descale it like a coffee maker). I placed a ball valve on the cold water inlet line to the TE18. The rest of the water line to and from the TE18 uses 3/4" pex uponor (great stuff). I placed a 3rd valve in the tub. This 3rd value was a 1/2 value. I then tee'd the output of the 3rd valve into the existing cold water valve output line that connects to the hot and cold mixer for the jetted tub spout. Before I used it for the first time or any time the water line drained, with the power off to the TE18, I fully open the 3rd value to allow water to flow through the system to check for leaks as well as remove air bubbles. I maxed the temperature setting, I think that is 125.To fill the tub I start by using all the existing hot water from the original hot water valve. At about 15 minutes the water from the spout starts to cool off. I then turn on the 3rd valve and turned down the original hot line. I keep adjusting the flow at this point. I found I can not run the 3rd line at full open. I kept adjusting the flow of both valves (basically turning the flow down) so I got a hot flow again. The 3rd valve seems best when only opened about 1/4 to 1/3, any more than that the water flow gets cold. In total it takes about 30 minutes to get the tub filled above the jets. Out jetted tub has an inline water heater that will maintain the water temperature when the jets are running.I must have done well as my wife is now super happy with her TE18 Christmas present. My incoming water temperature is 56 degrees and I have as much hot water flowing out of the shower as ever. I have only had one shower going at a time. The unit arrived quickly and in great condition.I have noticed the lights flicker in one of the rooms whenever the hot water starts flowing. Probably because this uses a lot of power, my fuse box is now 1/4 full of breakers for this. This has not been enough to affect electronic devices. I have noticed the same thing when my A/C starts so it could be that I just have low power to my house. But the A/C is once every few hours whereas this is every time anyone turns on the hot water. Luckily it seems to be mostly in one of the bedrooms, and it has a dimmer switch, so maybe that makes a difference. Still a bit of annoying, and I am sure a gas tankless would not have this problem.I had a tank hot water heater in my garage where winter days are typically 25 degrees and keeping it hot all day long for occasional use seemed like a waste. So when it went out, I was willing to try a tankless. And since the electric is much less expensive, especially for the install, it made sense to try it. I have only had it a few days, but so far so good.I decided to set the water temperature at 105 which is a bit hotter than needed and add a bit of cold water. I can turn down the cold if I want it warmer. It has a remote control, what I am supposed to do with this, take it in the shower with me or randomly play games on other people in the shower. Technology is cool but I would rather have saved a few bucks on the cost and not had a remote. Maybe it should be an option.tried over several day to contact the seller and you never get anyone. And it lets you hold for 4 to 5 minutes then just hangs up on you... I’ve Installed several many other brands and never had a problem this is the first time I’ve use this brand of a electric tankless water heater it keeps doing the same thing over and over it has a bad relay/ limit switch ... there customer service is awful. I did e everything they wanted me to do shoot video of waterheater several times showing the the temperature going up to 140o down to 85o back n fourth. And a video of the water pressure staying at 50psi during the whole process. Replaced it with a Eemax and Walah works perfect . And the reason I went to a nother brand is because they told me they couldn't help me to just buy somebody elses. After 5 trips to shoot a video each time . So in the end I lost my a$$ on this job cause at no end was they gonna admit theirs had a problem and this was the 2nd unit I tryed on this job. The first one kept popping the limit switch over and over and had to send the video after video till they gave in and sent a replacement . But it was faulty also. Camp lux did not have a care about me losing my but on job . Cause there unit failingEemax saved meI purchased a TE27 and set the temp to 120* F. My water temp fluctuates between mildly warm to luke warm but never to hot. Even if I only have one sink running. I have tried turning the temp up to it's max 125* F with no noticeable difference. I was really excited to get this and I am still holding out hope that it may work. I have a different electrician coming tomorrow than the one who installed it to make sure nothing is wrong with the wiring. Will update after visit. Not sure about electric cost didn't lower my bill but lot of factorsIt ok with itHVery suprised ! It works better than I expected. So easy to adjust and you can watch the water temperature so you can see how fast it gets hot.We use it for all our hot water needs in our 3 bed 1 bath home and it works great.we even save money on our water billthe unit is small and attractive and was easy to install.customer service was very helpful when i contacted them.they are a great company to deal with.I have mine in northwestetern ontario canada and it works amazing....very satisfied with this productThe unit is small enough but as far as hooking up it was far far from easy. The electrician had to cut the hole in the bottom bigger to get the size of the wires that it calls for. In order to do that he needed to use a very specific type of router hole cutting tool since there’s no room inside for anything. After all of this there’s not enough warmth to keep the shower a constant temperature. Over all not very impressed with the item. It might be fine if you were using it in a kitchen to supply one tap but even that we have been finding that it can’t keep up to a constant temperature. It’s far from what it says it is as far as quality goes.We had purchased item as a backup unit. When we finally opened the packaging we discovered that the internals were completely smashed up.$499 wasted.
